The Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA).
In the Alberta regulatory landscape, the CFAA is the most critical sentinel of human competency. As established by recent provincial mandates, the fire protection industry is moving away from the liquid, shifting standards of the past toward a unified requirement for professional certification.
By December 31, 2025, the Alberta framework no longer recognizes legacy certifications from NAIT or SAIT. Only those holding a certificate of training from the CFAA will be legally permitted to inspect, test, and maintain fire alarm and voice communication systems.
